Cymot SKW secure three points                                                                      By Ralph Ellinger

Although all three points stayed at the SKW stadium on Saturday evening the game against Fedics cannot be described as a highlight of the current NPL season. The coaching team of Richard Starke and Rolf Beiter could not take many positive impressions from the 90 minutes played out in front of nearly 300 spectators.

As the score line, 2:0, might suggest it was by no means the runaway victory that many of the fans expected. In fact, had Fedics converted some of the good chances that they had the game might have turned out much closer. However it was not Fedics who created these chances themselves, they just had to pounce on the numerous mistakes committed by the Cymot SKW defense and midfield. Some very bad passing between the Cymot SKW players allowed Fedics to start one counter attack after the other.

In spite of this Cymot SKW created many good scoring opportunities but the lack of a killer instinct in front of the oppositions goal made the game much tenser than it had to be. The issue was finally settled 25 minutes before the end of the game when Patrick Jagger put the result beyond doubt with a fine shot from the edge of the box. Arend von Stryk had given Cymot SKW the lead midway through the first half. Silver Zemburuka and Keeper Heribert Kapeng gave good performances but the player of the day for Cymot SKW was Sledge Gowaseb.

On Wednesday evening Cymot SKW has to go to the Khomasdal Stadium to face Tigers FC. A similar performance as the one from Saturday will make it very difficult for the Olympia outfit to walk away with any points against a very physical and hard running Tigers FC.

In other league matches over the weekend, Black Africa drew at home to Tigers FC, Ramblers crushed Blue Waters 4:1, African stars worsened the relegation fears of the Mighty Gunners with a 3:1 victory and Orlando Pirates put two goals past Oshakati City without reply. The upset of the weekend came when Civics FC defeated Eleven Arrows by 2:1 in Walvisbay.

Ramblers remain two points clear of second placed Cymot SKW who have now opened a four point gap on a resurgent Orlando Pirates. Black Africa is on 21 Points and lead Civics FC only on goal difference. Fedics FC remain rooted to the bottom of the log on 4 points. Blue Waters, Mighty Gunners and Oshakati City will have a fierce battle between them to try and ensure Premier League survival.
